We find him established atMantua in 15073, painting the apotheosis of Francesco Gonzagain the palace of San Sebastiano ; his next great work was the famousAllegory of the Court of Isabella dEste, painted for the duchesssprivate cabinet. The scene is laid on the bank of a river ; poets,musicians, ladies and cavaliers disport themselves in the foreground,while Cupid crowns Isabella beyond.
