The steam venting from the fumaroles around the summit show how hot the dome still is, despite being in a relatively quiet stage of it's activity. I've read countless times in MVO reports that the summit was not seen because of cloud, and it was mostly the same for us. The steam seemed very active to me, and formed its own cloud around the summit especially on this day that we were there.
